Leave No Trace Launches Youth Educator Specialization Course

Leave No Trace has launched a new Youth Educator Specialization online course. This course, available to certified Level 1 and Level 2 Instructors with a current Leave No Trace membership, covers best practices and techniques for effectively teaching Leave No Trace to youth both in the classroom and outdoors. After completing the course and adding the Youth Educator Specialization to their existing certification, Level 1 and Level 2 Instructors will be able to provide certificates to the youth they teach.

While Level 1 and Level 2 courses include comprehensive learning of Leave No Trace practices, research, and teaching techniques, there is always more to learn. Specializations will allow our instructors to go even deeper into hyper-focused topics such as teaching Leave No Trace to youth. These specializations will act as continuing education to ensure our Instructors are equipped to teach and implement Leave No Trace, no matter their role.

The hour-long course will cover Leave No Trace’s approach to teaching youth, the most effective techniques for planning lessons, and best practices for tailoring the 7 Principles to young outdoor learners. The course will also include over 10 activity guides and resources to help participants build Leave No Trace into their youth programs, whether they take place in a classroom, summer camp, city park, or any other learning environment.

The Youth Educator Specialization course is available in our Leave No Trace Online Academy, our suite of online courses, for Level 1 and Level 2 Instructors with a current Leave No Trace membership. To take the course, request access through your Leave No Trace Online Academy account.
