Environmental Advocate + Outdoor Family Adventurer

I’m a former Search and Rescue member, now a mom of three, who loves adventuring with my family and helping others do the same. I didn’t grow up in an ‘outdoorsy’ family, but fell in love with climbing, hiking, and camping in college – passions that led me to my husband. As we started our family, we wanted to raise our kids to love and protect nature. That belief deepened after our boys’ rehabilitation from a traumatic accident, where we saw how healing time outdoors can be. Now, we embrace any adventure – paddling off the Maine coast, backpacking the West, or climbing wherever we can. We’re not pro athletes, just a family who believes time outside is always well spent.

Why is environmental conservation important to you?

Environmental conservation is important to me because I want my kids, and all future generations, to experience the same breathtaking landscapes, wild spaces, and outdoor adventures that I love and have shaped my life. Nature isn’t just a backdrop; it’s where we create memories, find peace, and connect with each others and ourselves. I want my children to hike through old-growth forests, paddle on clear rivers, and ski on real snow. Protecting these places isn’t just about today—it’s about ensuring they remain wild and beautiful for the explorers, dreamers, and adventurers of tomorrow.

What is your favorite way to get outside?

I can’t pick just one way that’s my favorite way to get outside, there is so much to love! From the small and simple ways like sitting in a hammock in my backyard reading a book, to the big and adventurous ways like summiting a mountain or a multi-day backpacking trip, I love it all. I think that is one of the best parts about getting outside is that there are so many ways to enjoy it, and there is something for everyone.
