Dr. Bing Pan is a Professor of Commercial Recreation and Tourism in the Department of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management at the College of Health and Human Development, Pennsylvania State University. His research employs data analytics to investigate visitors’ behavior, perception, and experience in national parks and tourism settings, aiming to enhance their experiences while promoting sustainable practices. Dr. Pan’s academic journey includes a postdoctoral fellowship at Cornell University, a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and an B.S. and M.S. from Nanjing University. His professional experience encompasses Associate Professor and Director of the Office of Tourism Analysis at the College of Charleston, as well as Visiting Associate Professor at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research has attracted over $2 million in funding from various organizations, including National Park Service. He is a Fulbright Scholar to Singapore, A Fellow at the Academy of Leisure Science and the International Association for China Tourism Studies, as well as the Founding President of the Northeast Chapter of Travel and Tourism Research Association. Dr. Pan serves as Co-Editor-in-Chief of Tourism Analysis, Associate Editor of Annals of Tourism Research, and holds editorial positions with Tourism Management and Journal of Travel Research.
