Jeremy Shellhorn is Professor of Design at the University of Kansas and founder of the Design Outside Studio, a roaming classroom that creates opportunities for design students to journey off campus and into parks. The Studio appreciates that the design process is a powerful tool for visualizing “what ifs” and making visual communication about the natural world more engaging and effective. His design work, research and teaching has been recognized by the AIGA KC, Outdoor Retailer, Fast Company, National Science Foundation, Wall Street Journal and the National Park Service. He is particularly interested in exploring visual design strategies for interpretative experiences that facilitate learning and a stewardship ethic about the natural world. When he isn’t teaching Jeremy enjoys hiking with his family, fly fishing, designing for outdoor brands like Tenkara USA, and working on his www.nationalparktypeface.com project.
“I am passionate about exploring the impact of graphic design strategies on attention capture and behavior among outdoor recreationists.”
