Dr. Keri Schwab

Keri Schwab is a Professor in the Experience Industry Management Department at California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, California. Dr. Schwab was at first a journalism major and newspaper reporter and her interests and broad. Her research looks broadly at barriers, motivations, and benefits of leisure and recreation. Her focus in recent years has been on educational methods, hiker experiences, and impacts of hikers in outdoor recreation, as well as visitors use surveys and applied research to help improve public parks and recreation experiences (Oceano Dunes, Jackson Demonstration State Forest). She is also moving into studying physiological measures and changes during time in nature with the use of Shimmer skin conductance measures and looking at resiliency rooms in agricultural tourism spaces. She recently updated a textbook to introduce students to careers in recreation, parks, and tourism. In her free time. Keri enjoys hiking the morros of San Luis Obispo, and backpacking in the Sierra mountains.
