Dr. Marni Goldenberg

Dr. Marni Goldenberg is a Professor in the Experience Industry Management Department at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California. Marni’s background includes serving as a field instructor and challenge course instructor with various wilderness and adventure organizations. She is a former instructor with the North Carolina Outward Bound School and the Wilderness Education Association. Her research examines benefits, motivations, and barriers of leisure and recreation participation in the outdoor setting. She has researched the impacts of hiker experiences in outdoor recreation, land ethics among PCT hikers, and visitor use/satisfaction in public parks and areas. She has also learned about eye tracker technology and implemented that in a current study looking at design and management of recreational trails on forested lands. Marni recently co-authored the 3rd edition of the textbook: Outdoor Leadership: Theory and Practice.
