Leave No Trace – Virtual Level 1 Instructor Course

Leave No Trace is proud to offer a Virtual Level 1 Instructor Course taught directly by the Leave No Trace Education Team!

This online Level 1 Instructor Course is ideal for educators, outdoor industry professionals, guides, land managers, and anyone interested in teaching others the Leave No Trace principles. Our instructors bring years of experience as Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team Members, and participants of this Level 1 Course will learn the core Leave No Trace skills, ethics, and techniques for teaching Leave No Trace to a broad audience.

This course will be completely virtual and requires both asynchronous and synchronous work. Participants should expect to complete at least 8 hours of self-paced work, along with 8 hours of group work via Zoom.

Dates and Times: December 2, 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm Mountain Time; December 3 and 4, 4:00 pm – 6:30 pm Mountain Time

Cost: $200 for the general public, $150 for Federal Agency Staff*

Course Requirements:

Each participant must commit to attending all group virtual meetings, as well as finishing the self-paced work within the timeframe established by the instructors. All participants must have access to:

A computer with a webcam & microphone
Reliable internet connection

Course Outcomes:

Participants who complete the course requirements will receive a Level 1 Instructor certification and will be able to facilitate Leave No Trace Workshops, Skills Courses, and co-instruct Level 1 Courses in their communities.

Course Policies:

Cancellation & Refunds:

Participants cancelling before two weeks from the start of the course will receive a full refund. Participants cancelling within two weeks from the start of the course will be refunded up to 50% of their course fee. Cancellations within 48 hours of the start date will not be refunded.

If a course does not meet the minimum enrollment threshold two weeks before the start date, Leave No Trace may reschedule or cancel the course. Participants will be offered to reschedule to a future course, or receive a full refund.

No-Shows & Make Ups:

In order to meet the requirements and earn your Level 1 Instructor Certification, you must attend all Zoom sessions. If you miss one or more sessions, you will need to make up the session(s) at a future Virtual Level 1 Instructor Course. Contact [email protected] to schedule.
