Amicalola Falls State Park, GA – Sept. 26-27, 2025
Join Leave No Trace at Amicalola Falls State Park – GA – September 26-27, 2025
Each year we hand-select nominated outdoor spaces that need our collective care and attention. By designating them as Spotlights, we’re rallying the local community to step up, join forces with Leave No Trace, and make a meaningful impact that can revitalize and protect these special places where we recreate, enjoy one another’s company, and elevate our health physically, mentally and emotionally.
Amicalola Falls State Park (POSTPONED from 2024) has been selected as a 2025 Leave No Trace Spotlight. Leave No Trace will be at Amicalola Falls State Park September 26-27, collaborating with hosts and partners on a variety of programs including stewardship projects, workshops, and community outreach.
Opportunities to Get Involved:
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 26:
Naturalist Chat: Bats of Georgia – with Leave No Trace & Friends of Amicalola Falls State Park, 7:00 – 8:00 pm @ Amicalola Falls State Park Campground
If you don’t already love Georgia’s bats – you’re about to! Join bat enthusiasts, Georgia Master Naturalists, and Leave No Trace for a fun and educational program to learn how bats benefit our ecosystems and how we can all help protect and respect these fascinating creatures. After learning about bat ecology and wildlife-friendly recreation tips, we’ll take a walk using special bat-detecting gear to collect valuable data to support bat conservation efforts.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27:
Volunteer Stewardship Project, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, Meet at Amicalola Falls State Park Visitor Center
Join Leave No Trace, the Georgia Appalachian Trail Club, and Friends of Amicalola Falls State Park for a hands-on day of stewardship on the iconic AT Approach Trail to celebrate It’s Your State Parks Day, National Public Lands Day, and the Leave No Trace Spotlight at Amicalola Falls State Park. Help replace and upgrade trail signage, remove litter, and make a lasting impact on one of Georgia’s most beloved hiking routes. Along the way, you’ll get an introduction to Leave No Trace and learn how simple actions can help protect our trails for generations to come.
