Join Leave No Trace at Capitol Reef Field Station, UT – November 13-15, 2025

Each year we hand-select nominated outdoor spaces that need our collective care and attention. By designating them as Spotlights, we’re rallying the local community to step up, join forces with Leave No Trace, and make a meaningful impact that can revitalize and protect these special places where we recreate, enjoy one another’s company, and elevate our health physically, mentally and emotionally.

Capitol Reef Field Station has been selected as a 2025 Leave No Trace Spotlight. The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team will be at Capitol Reef Field Station November 13-15, collaborating with hosts and partners on a variety of programs including stewardship projects, workshops, and community outreach.

Opportunities to Get Involved:

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 15:

Volunteer Stewardship Project, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Fremont River Trail, Capitol Reef National Park (near the Gifford House)

Join Leave No Trace, the Capitol Reef Field Station, and the National Park Service for a fun and rewarding, hands-on volunteer project focused on protecting and maintaining the natural beauty of Capitol Reef National Park. Volunteers will assist with light trail maintenance, trail brushing and related restoration tasks. Volunteers will also get an introduction to Leave No Trace principles, the importance of public land stewardship, and learn how simple actions can help protect our parks for generations to come.

Important information:
– Bring water, snacks, sun protection, and dress for the weather.
– Long pants and closed-toed shoes required.
– Tools & materials provided; please bring work gloves if you have them.
– Work may entail bending, light lifting and a short walk from the meeting spot.
– Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
– Advance sign-up encouraged.

Whether you are new to Leave No Trace or consider yourself an expert, join us for this interactive game night to gauge your knowledge of Leave No Trace practices and principles while learning tips and techniques for protecting Capitol Reef and all your favorite outdoor spaces. Don’t miss this chance to participate in fun stewardship trivia and win some cool prizes!
