Each year we hand-select nominated outdoor spaces that need our collective care and attention. By designating them as Spotlights, we’re rallying the local community to step up, join forces with Leave No Trace, and make a meaningful impact that can revitalize and protect these special places where we recreate, enjoy one another’s company, and elevate our health physically, mentally and emotionally.

Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument has been selected as a 2025 Leave No Trace Spotlight. The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team will be at Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Jan 31- Feb 2, collaborating with hosts and partners on a variety of programs including stewardship projects, workshops, and community outreach.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1:

Leave No Trace Pop-up Education & Outreach, 8:30 – 11:30 am, La Quinta Cove Trailhead, La Quinta, CA

Join Leave No Trace and the Bureau of Land Management for engaging and family-friendly outreach and education, meet the Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team and play quick games to learn more about Leave No Trace and how to protect Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument and all your favorite outdoor spaces.

Leave No Trace Trivia & Outreach Evening, 6:00 – 7:30 pm, REI, Rancho Mirage

Join us for this interactive game night and social hour. Test your knowledge of Leave No Trace principles, learn new tips for protecting the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument, and discover how to care for all your favorite outdoor spaces. Don’t miss this chance to participate in fun stewardship trivia and scavenger hunt to win some cool prizes! RSVP encouraged.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 2:

Bogert Trail Stewardship Day, 9:00 am-11:00 am, Frank Bogert Trailhead, Palm Springs, CA

Take part in a family-friendly, fun volunteer outing. Volunteers will work on projects that include trail improvements, vegetation removal, drainage improvements, litter removal and sign posting from our most impacted spots. RSVP encouraged.
